Covers of the once-great magazine throughout 2024 have been somewhat of a flop, with not even the likes of Sophie Marceau, Céline Dion, Gigi Hadid, and Kendall Jenner having managed to win us over as cover stars. Loli Bahia is called upon to help round out the year, gracing the December 2024/January 2025 cover of Vogue France. The French beauty (and firm industry favorite) poses before the lens of Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott in the rather chic cover photograph. The photographic duo teamed up with stylist Alastair McKimm, who selected a tweed look from the Chanel Spring 2025 collection for Bahia to showcase in the high-glam cover shot.

Yet on the opposite end of the scale, Regina King and a twosome of covers with Anok Yai and Christy Turlington have impressed us to no end. Garcia (unsurprisingly) closes out the year with the annual ELLE ‘Women in Hollywood’ issue for December 2024/January 2025. In the process, Demi Moore, Danielle Deadwyler, Mikey Madison, Selena Gomez, Karla Sofía Gascón, Zoe Saldaña, Cynthia Erivo, Saoirse Ronan, Julianne Moore, and Tilda Swinton cover the ELLE year-end offering. To say Chioma Nnadi hasn’t been cutting it as Head of Editorial Content at British Vogue would be an understatement. An understatement of rather epic proportions. Despite pulling in big-name cover stars like FKA Twigs, Zendaya, Kylie Jenner, and Florence Pugh, the magazine’s front covers over recent months have been… somewhat questionable. Nnadi, now with a total of nine issues under her belt, tapped SZA as a British Vogue cover star for December 2024. The American singer and songwriter poses before the lens of photographer Nadine Ijewere, as the magazine’s final cover star of 2024. Throughout the cover shoot, SZA was styled by Julia Sarr-Jamois, SZA bundles up in a lime green knit from Seán McGir’s debut Alexander McQueen Fall 2024 collection.

British Harper’s Bazaar stays winning. After all, covers over recent months starring the likes of Kate Winslet, Venus Williams, and Lupita Nyong’o have impressed us to no end. Therefore, we aren’t at all surprised to see the magazine closing out 2024 on a high, with its annual “Women of the Year” edition. Lydia Slater celebrates Sophie Turner, Ambika Mod, Katarina Johnson-Thompson, and Victoria Beckham via the December 2024/January 2025 covers of British Harper’s Bazaar for the occasion. Turner is captured by Emma Summerton in a look from Louis Vuitton (unsurprisingly). Agata Pospieszynska shot a Christian Dior-clad Ambika Mod while Luc Braquet was called upon to capture Katarina Johnson-Thompson (decked out in Shushu/Tong). In the fourth and final cover, Victoria Beckham suits up a look from her namesake fashion label and is photographed by Boo George.

Vogue‘s long-serving editor-in-chief Anna Wintour opted to close out 2024 on a high, enlisting Marc Jacobs as the magazine’s first-ever guest editor. Wintour called upon the American designer to guest-edit the December 2024 issue. Jacobs enlisted Kaia Gerber as cover girl in the process. The all-American beauty, who previously graced the American fashion bible for April 2020 and June/July 2021 posed Steven Meisel. In two of the three cover photographs, Kaia is dressed by stylist Grace Coddington in looks from Jacobs’ Spring 2024 collection for a twosome of vibrant and joyous covers. For the third and final cover offering, Jacobs and Vogue commissioned Canadian visual artist Anna Weyant to paint a portrait of Gerber. Elsewhere in the Vogue December 2024 issue, Dutch photographic duo Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh celebrate all-things movement and dance.

Thankfully for us, Vogue documented the whole process and uploaded a 15-minute video of the making of the December 2024 edition to YouTube. It’s a must-watch, to say the least.

Throughout 2024, Anna Wintour has played it safe as Vogue‘s head honcho – until now. After all, the industry icon who has held the position as editor-in-chief since 1988 has welcomed a whole slew of old faces back onto the cover of the American fashion bible. Those faces have included everyone from Zendaya to Kendall Jenner and Blake Lively to Kamala Harris. However, Wintour throws us a curveball to round out the year, enlisting none other than Marc Jacobs as Vogue guest editor – the magazine’s very first. The famed American fashion designer secured Kaia Gerber as his Vogue cover star in the process, who posed for firm forum favorite Steven Meisel and artist Anna Weyant. In the first and second of the three collectable covers (below), Kaia is dressed by Grace Coddington in looks from Jacobs’ Spring 2024 collection.
