Rafael Pavarotti remains of the industry’s most in-demand of photographers. The world of fashion continues to endorse the Brazilian lensman like there’s no tomorrow. Over the past twelve months alone, magazines like Vogue Italia and Perfect have employed Pavarotti to lens their cover shoots. Brands like H&M, Guess, Balmain, and Dior have also rushed to commission Pavarotti. Beymen is one of the latest to sign Rafael Pavarotti on the dotted line, who points his lens toward Jessica Chastain for the department store’s Fall 2024 campaign. The American actress and film producer dials up the glamour (and then some) in the high-glam campaign imagery, complete with vivid gold and deep purple backdrops. Chastain sports looks from the Fall 2024 collections of brands like Alaïa, Tom Ford, Jacquemus, and Victoria Beckham – all available for purchase via the luxury Turkish department store.

The partnership between the two got underway back in 2021, with the Brazilian creative ultimately photographed the recent Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 campaigns. Subsequent to impressing us here at theFashionSpot to no end, we’re delighted to see Pavarotti back once again with the unveiling of a spectacular Summer 2024 campaign installment. This season, we’re transported to Pavarotti’s native of Brazil, with models-of-the-moment Vittoria Ceretti, Devyn Garcia and Anok Yai coming along for the ride. Dressed in H&M’s latest collection by Kate Phelan, the girls are captured within the lush and tropical surroundings of the Brazilian jungle. Elsewhere throughout the campaign imagery, Pavarotti’s cast of beauties are photographed posing up a storm down on one the country’s idyllic beaches.

Since joining Ferragamo as creative director, Maximilian Davis has experimented with a handful of different photographers to capture his vision for the Italian fashion label. Davis’ first campaign for Spring 2023 saw Jackie Nickerson commissioned to capture his debut and much-celebrated collection, followed up with a series of Rafael Pavarotti-shot imagery. Both of the Pre-Fall 2023 and Fall 2023 campaigns went to Tyler Mitchell, as the British designer welcomes back Pavarotti for the Holiday 2023 season. The Brazilian photographer captures models Aymeline Valade, Ying Ouyang and Malick Bodian against a backdrop of historic Florence landmarks, as reimagined by artist Paolo Ventura. The campaign is complete with styling from Ib Kamara and creative direction from Ferdinando Verderi.

Ultimately, the end result left a whole lot to be desired by members of theFashionSpot forums. “It’s a nice concept but I hate the result. It’s bland and boring,” Royal-Galliano critiqued.

“Awful. What else is there to expect from Kamara and Verderi?” quipped MagFan.

Vogue28 wasn’t into it either, commenting: “A truly atrocious concept. Absolutely loathe the whole cut and paste effect. Maximilian Davis’ Ferragamo collections have been so chic and utterly immaculate but his campaigns for Ferragamo have been a massive FLOP. The first shot of Aymeline Valade is the only image I’m able to tolerate here.”

“I actually like this,” Urban Stylin reasoned. “Pavarotti’s photography seems a lot better here than with the usual filters. Aymeline stands out!”

The partnership appears to be a match made in heaven, with Pavarotti’s strong aesthetic complementing Roustening’s bold and graphic Fall 2023 Balmain collection to perfection in the visually-arresting campaign imagery. Models Akuol Deng Atem, Anyier Anei, Naomi Apajok, Nyaduola Gabriel and Nyakong Chan strike dynamic poses before colorful and vivid backdrops, with the campaign complete with styling from Charlotte Stockdale and Katie Lyall.

Ultimately, the end result had our forum members a divided bunch. “I like Rafael’s work but it’s getting so repetitive. More of the same here,” critiqued BlueRuin.
In the same frame of mind was zacatecas570: “Pavarotti is so overrated, his work is just too much!”
“One can never be sure whether to like or not to like Pavarotti’s work. There’s something missing that I cant put a finger on,” Urban Stylin voiced.
DK92, however, was left very pleasantly surprised: “I don’t normally like Rafael, but somehow the clothes and his style work here. Indeed the best Balmain campaign under Olivier!”
“Spectacular, really. Pavarotti understands Olivier’s sculptural looks and lights them impeccably. The colors, the black painted nails, all works perfectly with the dramatic looks,” approved Nimsay.
