V Magazine China came to fruition in 2023, with He Cong and Troy Sivan helping herald the arrival of the magazine via the lens of photographer Mario Sorrenti. Fast forward to November 2024 and the sister publication of V Magazine (in the United States) is going strong. Making an appearance on the cover of V Magazine China this month is actress Lucy Liu. Fresh from the covers of Vogue Singapore, the American actress (and star of the action/comedy “Red One”) appears before the lens of photographer Jack Bridgland. Anna Trevelyan styled Lucy Liu for the cover shoot, selecting an embellished jacket from the Gucci Cruise 2025 collection of Sabato De Sarno.

Not everyone, however, was so entirely convinced. “I love Lucy, but this is wasting her potential,” voiced forum member Toni Ahlgren.

The British edition of GQ (or any edition of GQ for that matter) doesn’t exactly command our attention here on theFashionSpot every month. British GQ‘s 2024 annual Heroes Issue, however, has caught the eye of members of theFashionSpot forums, given the fact Anya Taylor-Joy is welcomed as cover star. The British-American actress, fresh from the cover of American ELLE and the 2024 Cannes Film Festival red carpet, poses for photographer Jack Bridgland and is styled by Lisa Jarvis. In the unconventional cover image, the star of George Miller’s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga takes a call (on a Motorola Razr) while donning a Givenchy coat and a pair of glasses from the Maison Margiela x Gentle Monster collab.

“What a joke! They wasted Anya Taylor-Joy! This looks like King Kong Magazine. Not even worthy of Paper Magazine,” exclaimed forum member TomBlanksFullFatMiuMiu.

Vogue28 wasn’t buying it either, commenting: “My absolute biggest pet peeve with magazine covers is when subjects aren’t looking out toward us readers! This would’ve been a thousand times more engaging if Anya Taylor-Joy was looking out toward us. A thousand times better!”

Not everyone, however, was left so dissatisfied. “I don’t think Anya Taylor-Joy is the ideal subject for GQ but I love the cover,” admired WAVES.

If you’ve paid a visit to your local newsstand over recent months, you’ve no doubt bumped into Penélope Cruz. After all, the Spanish actress has appeared on a whole multitude of magazine covers of late – including Vanity Fair Italia, Vogue Spain and American ELLE. Penélope now surfaces as V Magazine‘s latest cover star, 13 years after she last covered the American fashion publication. For Issue #147 Spring 2024, photographer Jack Bridgland and stylist Gro Curtis team up to profile the Chanel brand ambassador who dons a range of pieces from the French fashion house (in addition to pieces from Fleur du Mal, LaQuan Smith and David Koma) across two covers, for the 90s-inspired cover story.

The American edition (or any of the 21 worldwide editions) of GQ doesn’t exactly take our fancy here on theFashionSpot each and every month. Nevertheless, as the men’s fashion and style magazine closes out the year with its annual Men of the Year installment, we’re fully here for the festivities. A trio of dynamic covers come our way for the publication’s final offering of 2023, featuring Jacob Elordi, Kim Kardashian and Travis Scott. First up was Elordi declared Movie Star of the Year, followed by Kardashian crowned Tycoon of the Year while Scott appears on cover three announced Musician of the Year. To mark the occasion, each of the three covers stars were captured by photographer Jack Bridgland.

Per usual when confronted with multi-covers, only ONE was guaranteed to steal focus. “I love it when Kimberly is versatile! Stunning and fun!” raved aracic.

“Love Kim’s cover!” Kimy Jo enthused.

“I love this all of this. Jack Bridgland’s aesthetic is perfect for GQ,” approved HodanChloe.

Sharing the same level of enthusiasm was vogue28, commenting: “I have such a massive soft spot for Kim Kardashian, so I’m very much into her cover. I love how Kim doesn’t take herself too seriously and often goes out of her comfort zone for magazine shoots. I kinda love the inclusion of the Cheetos!”
