For her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, Kerry Washington looked stunning in a semi-sheer Giambattista Valli dress with a bedazzled neckline and lace panel with sequins underneath. The actor received her very own star on December 2, with the ceremony taking place in Los Angeles, California. Her parents, Earl and Valerie Washington, were also present at the event to show support for their daughter’s achievement.

Kerry Washington stuns in a sleeveless Giambattista Valli dress for Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony

Kerry Washington recently had her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, and she did it in style in a semi-sheer dress from Giambattista Valli. The actor went for a glamorous all-black look, complete with matching peep-toe heels from Andrea Wazen. Her mom matched her energy, rocking a smart black set with pearl detailing around her waist.

The star’s Giambattista Valli sleeveless piece featured an eye-catching bedazzled neckline. She matched her jewelry pieces to the gems around her neck to ensure the bling complements her fashion choices. The dress also had a gorgeous sequined lace panel that could be seen through the semi-sheer fabric. To lend some shape to the flowy silhouette, the black number also featured a pretty bow at the waist.

According to WWD, Washington was paying tribute to Audrey Hepburn’s iconic look from “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.” She evoked the late icon with her hairstyle as well. The actor opted for a sleek updo that was the work of hairstylist Takisha Sturdivant-Drew. For her bling, she went with pieces from Anayah Jewellery. The overall styling was done by Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn, with Carola Gonzalez working on her makeup and Sreynin Peng working on her nails.

During her speech at the Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, Kerry Washington thanked her mom and dad for pushing her to pursue her dreams. She was grateful they taught her to never give up and always believe in herself and her grand dreams.

Ariana Grande just dropped a photo of her Good Witch Glinda-inspired cocktail dress by Giambattista Valli from her “Wicked” press tour in London. The silk crepe knee-length dress consisted of tulle ruffles at the bottom to complement the long-standing theme of her tour outfits. Grande originally wore the attire, which she paired with a sleek and high bun, on November 21 and only released photos now.

Ariana Grande stuns in Giambattista Valli cocktail dress for ‘Wicked’ press tour

Like many other “Wicked” press tour outfits, Ariana Grande’s Giambattista Valli cocktail dress drew inspiration from her movie character, Glinda. After weeks of stunning audiences in marvelous pink gowns and other themed outfits, Grande and the luxury fashion brand released photos of this hidden gem of a dress. She donned the look during the fantasy film’s press tour in London on November 21. Her overall appearance looks chic and elegant and steers away from the more dramatic, fairytale-like gowns.

In the photos, the Grammy-winner poses in a dark brown, well-furnished background wearing the baby pink dress. The outfit had an A-line structure ending right above her knees with a tulle ruffle finish. Moreover, it comprised ornate embellishments on the neckline that elevated the elegance of the look. Grande paired it with her usual charisma, full-face makeup, and a super casual sleek hairdo. She accentuated her eyelashes with a perfect lift combined with noticeable eyeliner. In addition, the 32-year-old’s cheeks appeared properly contoured, and to complete the look, she added a touch of lip gloss.

Undoubtedly, Ariana Grande’s silk crepe cocktail dress with tulle ruffles would have been incomplete without her pointed-toe white pumps. Her French tip manicure further contributed to the Glinda-themed ensemble. In the photo, the singer credited her fashion stylist Mimi Cuttrell, and makeup artists Michael Anthony and GaborK MUA for masterminding the look. Giambattista Valli Paris also dropped a series of photos of Grande posing playfully in the outfit.

That’s a wrap on the Fall 2024 season of Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week and what a wild ride the past few days have been, with Vogue World: Paris unofficially kick-starting the couture festiveness as the sun set over Place Vendôme on Sunday evening.

The Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode leaned on Daniel Roseberry at Schiaparelli to get this season’s couture celebrations off to a fine start – and it worked. Ditching the light-filled atrium of the Petit Palais for a windowless, dark space underneath the Hôtel Salomon de Rothschild, guests were treated to a salon-style presentation. The Texan-born designer focused on the idea of rebirth, with Roseberry’s avant-garde designs reflecting stages of metamorphosis. On the opposite end of the scale, Iris van Herpen opted for a presentation instead of a traditional fashion show, where models were mounted onto walls like real-life paintings.

Later in the day, Maria Grazia Chiuri unveiled her latest couture collection for Christian Dior. As the French capital is set to play host to the 2024 Olympic Games next month, the Italian designer embraced the Olympic spirit and presented a lineup of silver and gold Grecian gowns and embellished bodysuits as a tribute to athletes from antiquity to present day. Thom Browne gave us a masterclass in drama, with clothes spectacularly built to showcase powerful construction, and gave himself the challenge of creating a collection crafted entirely out of muslin. At Giambattista Valli, extra volume and florals were the order of the day.

On Tuesday, the fashion pack gathered inside Paris’ Palais Garnier to witness the first Chanel collection following the exit of Virginie Viard. Partly executed by the in-house design team, the studio tapped into classic Chanel codes as the search for Viard’s replacement continues. Amping up the sense of drama (befitting of the setting), voluminous skirts and dramatic capes floated over the mosaic floor of the historic opera house. At 89, Giorgio Armani proved (once again) he’s at the top of his game. For a stellar collection titled “Pearls”, Armani crafted the entire collection this season with the precious gemstone in mind and conjured up a whole plethora of gowns ready for the red carpet – each in a sophisticated color palette of white, platinum, champagne and black.

Over at Balenciaga’s Salons de Couture on 10 Avenue George V, Demna insisted a meditative soundtrack eased the minds of his guests, before bombarding them with his upcycled couture. The last look, a black nylon dress, was crafted from 47 meters of fabric and existed only for the duration of the show. An array of floor-length silhouettes reigned supreme at Elie Saab, as the Lebanese designer continues to display his masterful talent for embellishments and red carpet dressing. For the Fall 2024 season of Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week, the Dutch avant-garde design duo Viktor & Rolf drew inspiration from their breakthrough Fall/Winter 1998 ‘Atomic Bomb’ collection and drew on the artistic movements of Cubism and Constructivism.

Lavish velvets draped as capes and impressive beading work were on display at Zuhair Murad. For Nicolas di Felice’s highly-anticipated outing as Jean Paul Gaultier’s guest couturier, the Belgian designer gave us a fresh and minimalist take on signature JPG house codes (such as corsetry and lingerie detailing). To close out his collection, Di Felice’s finale look consisted of a sheer nude wedding gown-style dress that was covered in 10,568 hook and eye closures.

Needless to say, the Fall 2024 season of Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week was full of memorable moments. Scroll further for the hits and misses, all in accordance of theFashionSpot’s very own army of loyal fashion critics:

MISS | Viktor & Rolf

“Dreadful. After all these decades, their idea of fashion is still adolescent at best. They want to be cOncEpTuAl so bad.” [GoldenPetals]

“The trick has gone old…” [jeanclaude]

“I really do wonder how successful they are in couture sales. And also, how their clients store the pieces. Viktor & Rolf designs are adolescent. They have been limited and no evolution from them.” [jeremeydante]

HIT | Giorgio Armani Privé

“Nobody does black velvet like Armani.” [lookatme]

“Again, a Giorgio Armani Privé collection takes my breath away! This has truly lifted me up, what a sight for sore eyes. A flawless collection from start to finish, love the monochromatic color palette, the embellishments, that liquid-like fabric Armani uses so well… I am in couture heaven!” [vogue28]

“Just stunning. Classic but never stale. Sleek but never basic.” [GoldenPetals]

HIT | Chanel

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“This is such a dignified collection. Chanel can definitely survive without a creative director. Just call Emmanuelle Alt for consulting and that’s it!” [helmutnotdead]

“Seeing how different this collection is from Virad’s usual tricks, I have a hunch that the studio decided to make radical changes to the designs after she left. The proportions, though matronly, are actually on point and the the shoulders and waistline fall perfectly.” [LadyJunon]

“I love all the capes, the high-necks, the puff sleeves and even the pajama bloomers – very Karl’s Victorian rococo Coco. All you need is a horse carriage and a chauffeur to complete the scene. I am getting Marie Antoinette sneaking into a Paris masked ball from this.” [TomBlanksFullFatMiuMiu]

MISS | Balenciaga

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“Everything from soundtrack to the clothes and ideas just screams banal, disconnected, pretentious and lazy.” [PDFSD]

“I feel like Demna is purposefully trolling critics who say he is boring by using that soundtrack. I tried really hard to not fall asleep especially coupled with those first few looks. Demna’s couture is getting worse, and the repetition of the references and very very very cheap-looking menswear pieces.” [Mody]

“I can drap 47-meter fabric and make it still wearable. What is this nonsense mess.” [TaylorBinque]

MISS | Julie de Libran

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“Some of these outfits look like they were made overnight before the show.” [TaylorBinque]

“Girl, 5 years in the game and this is still the best you can do? If you cannot elevate you design, at least elevate your fabrics development or presentation.” [THD96]

“There’s a reason why brands uses models instead of real people to model their designs. The sizes and proportions of the models are generally standardized. Here, everything is wrong because for what it supposed to look like Couture, it looks very frumpy and unflattering. EVERY look is unfortunate. Terrible!” [Lola701]

HIT | Schiaparelli

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

I think that this is Daniel Roseberry’s best collection to date. So many beautiful looks.” [MModa]

“Wow, what a collection. Daniel is brilliant, and the ways they’ve reintroduced this house is so beautiful. I love all the looks, the staging, the soundtrack- all of it. So pretty. This is what runway and couture are all about. Beautiful pacing, intimate lighting.” [jeremydante]

“This was a collection full of invention and craft.” [signifier]

MISS | Charles de Vilmorin

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“Did he graduate? This looks like a fashion school collection.” [tourbillions]

“I can picture this collection as props for Disneyland. They could use this to inaugurate new attractions about Disney villains.” [jeanclaude]

“Too many references which get him lost…” [bennyboy]

See all the looks from the Charles de Vilmorin Haute Couture Fall 2024 collection.

MISS | Christian Dior

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“Maria Grazia Chiuri doesn’t have much enthusiasm or passion or adoration or admiration for dressing women. For a moment it seemed like a Sunday with all the washed sheets drying in the wind.” [CholoChic]

“The collection is pretty but forgettable. Nothing offensive, simple basic silhouettes. The Dior couture client base buys mostly because it’s Dior and they are not true fashion customers at this point. I would imagine the atelier can craft this in their sleep.” [reese06]

“How much longer is gonna be allowed at Dior? The mosaics? Sweet, for a child’s school project or a gymnasium wall – not couture. I understand keeping things safe, or tame, sure. But this is prêt-à-porter and we all know it. Sad.” [jeremydante]

See all the looks from the Christian Dior Haute Couture Fall 2024 collection.

MISS | Thom Browne

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“OMG, what a waste of everything! Pretentious and bad fashion. Then again, I did not expect anything else from Thom Browne…” [90sFan]

“His ‘couture’ collections always look like a child of Guo Pei and Rei Kawakubo suffering from stiff person syndrome.” [avonlea002]

DIABOLICAL! Villainous waste of fabric and time. Sometimes I think being with Andrew Bolton has led believe everything should be made for museums because who the f*** is wearing this much less paying for it?” [VogueDisciple93]

See all the looks from the Thom Browne Haute Couture Fall 2024 collection.

MISS | Iris van Herpen

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“The 3d printing has been milked to death for such a long time that Iris van Herpen should probably stop waiting for any potential couture client. Her work lost its allure a long long time ago.” [JohannesL]

“With Iris’ scientific/alien-esque direction, it was interesting at first but where can you take it when you’re so far beyond into the outer realm? We are bored now. Flip the direction on us.” [jeremydante]

“Well, it seems the 3D printed has gone out of ABS plastic cartridges this time. One positive thing here, it’s only 5 looks!” [jeanclaude]

See all the looks from the Iris van Herpen Haute Couture Fall 2024 collection.

HIT | Jean Paul Gaultier

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“I LOOOOOOOOVED IT. I could’ve used a bit more drama, maybe. But, the sense of restraint. The color story, the concept of under garments and the delicate use of coverage and exposure- what a balance. Obsessed with the runway soundtrack.” [jeremydante]

“My favorite collection of the week. The collection was so sleek and elegant. The reduced color palettes, the leather, the hook-and-eyes, the pockets, the overall rigor and willowy silhouettes, I love it.” [LadyJunon]

“I knew Nicolas Di Felice had it in him. Wow!” [Alquimista]

See all the looks from the Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture Fall 2024 collection.

HIT | Zuhair Murad

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“Beautiful collection. Very sophisticated.” [Urban Stylin]

“Always a fan of Zuhair Murad’s couture collections, and this is no exception. A whole multitude of gorgeous gowns, don’t even know where to start in selecting just on standout look. Every single look here has their strong point, whether it’s colour, embellishment or fabric.” [vogue28]

“Loyal Fan. There were some beautiful gowns. The collection really shines.” [Empress of Dress]

See all the looks from the Zuhair Murad Haute Couture Fall 2024 collection.

MISS | Tamara Ralph

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“It’s a little too inconsistent. Some pieces look like royalty while others look like leftovers. Also, it’s basically a mishmash of Valli, Versace, and Elie Saab. Hardly any identity.” [GoldenPetals]

“Tacky. This makes me think Michael Russo was the stronger talent. Tamara definitely needs someone to help her better edit and tailor the clothes. My main issue with this collection is the design. Too amateur for a designer who has been exposed to a higher level of taste.” [TerraVera]

See all the looks from the Tamara Ralph Haute Couture Fall 2024 collection.

HIT | Elie Saab

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“Stunning from start to finish. His technique and his vision are timeless. And what a CAST.” [GoldenPetals]

“As always… top of the class!” [Empress of Dress]

“As always with Elie Saab, everything is just executed to perfection and looks absolutely flawless. In love with this collection just as much as Saab’s previous ones. The colour palette and sense of cohesion is spot-on, love how the collection starts off with black, runs into burgundy and ends with all those nude numbers.” [vogue28]

See all the looks from the Elie Saab Haute Couture Fall 2024 collection.

MISS | Giambattista Valli

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“Not his best work.” [Mutterlain]

“I understand design signatures and the importance of developing house code, but there is a distinct same-ness with Giambattista that feels like something more dull than continuity. The collection seemed to attempt differentiation with the petals and painted faces (unnecessary) but for me it missed the mark.” [jeremydante]

“Giambattista Valli makes wonderful dresses but there’s never a push for something new. Just one big collection for the last 6 years.” [brandon J pierre]

HIT | Alexis Mabille

“The cat dress is probably the best thing that he has ever designed.” [JohannesL]

“The kitty dress is very cool.” [GoldenPetals]

The Fall 2024 season of Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week comes to an official close today, and we have been in a total state of awe since the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode’s schedule for the season kicked off on Monday.

All eyes were on Daniel Roseberry at Schiaparelli earlier this week, who kick-started the couture festivities with his latest Schiaparelli collection. The Texas-born designer focused on the idea of rebirth, with avant-garde designs reflecting stages of metamorphosis for an elegant salon-style presentation. Speaking of elegance, Giorgio Armani proved (once again) he is truly the master of sophisticated and pure unapologetic glamour. Mr. Armani crafted his entire collection this season with the precious pearl gemstone in mind and conjured up a plethora of gowns ready for the red carpet. This Fall 2024 season of Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week also bestowed upon us the first Chanel collection subsequent to the abrupt exit of Virginie Viard. As Jean Paul Gaultier’s seventh guest couturier, Nicolas Di Felice (of Courrèges) took his bow after presenting his minimalist vision for the revered French designer’s clientele.

Needless to say, the Fall 2024 season of Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week was one for the books. From Christian Dior to Charles de Vilmorin (and everything in between), watch theFashionSpot’s highlights of Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week Fall 2024 below:

The Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week collections came to an almighty end last night, subsequent to John Galliano staging his applause-inducing Maison Margiela Artisanal showcase spectacular, which was truly something the fashion crowned hasn’t witnessed for some time. Boating insane storytelling, drama and theatrics – Galliano’s Dior is truly well and truly alive at Margiela.

Flashback to Monday and it was Daniel Roseberry at Schiaparelli kick-starting the couture celebrations, reminding his A-list audience of the power of fashion. As Roseberry dug even deeper into the rich and surrealist Schiaparelli DNA, models were decked out in the designer’s hi-tech couture looks of XL shoulders, dramatic bodices – often covered in micro chips and old cell phones. At Christian Dior, guests digested Maria Grazia Chiuri’s take on classic Dior shapes heralding the essence of femininity with new interpretations of A-line skirts, cocktail dresses and the iconic bar jacket, shown inside a set envisioned by artist Isabella Ducrot. Balloon, draped and bow dresses were taken to the extreme at Giambattista Valli while ethereal tulle, bows, pinks and tweed were on the agenda at Virginie Viard’s ballerina-inspired Chanel showcase.

This season marked 19 years since Giorgio Armani first debuted his Privé collection, with the king of Italian fashion putting his ateliers to work to present a collection full of exquisite fabrics and sophisticated glamour. Simone Rocha, as guest-designer of Jean Paul Gaultier this season, paid homage to the codes of the house: corsetry. The Irish designer brought her folkloric romanticism to JPG couture with Rocha’s signature shades of blush, red and black scattered throughout. At Viktor & Rolf, never expecting the unexpected, models walked the runway in a black and nude uniform of distressed and deconstructed creations. Titled ‘Le Salon’, Pierpaolo Piccioli’s latest couture collection for Valentino was an ode to the essence of haute couture itself – but with a modern twist of masterful color-blocking. From glistening suits to crystal-encrusted accessories, Kim Jones at Fendi married futurism with Karl Lagerfeld’s vision for the luxury Italian fashion house.

“Most of this looks awkward and difficult to wear.” [Alquimista]

“The fabrics are so stiff and heavy, they are on the verge of cardboard. The oversized blazers are a tired trend.” [yslforever]

“I absolutely loathe Pierpaolo Piccioli’s work. He started out so strong solo at the house, but he very quickly ended up in this particular rut that he refuses to get out of. Personally, I find his use if color garish. I do not think he is a master colorist. I also find it really obvious how lazy the actual design work is. Most of what he puts out now for couture is like a big, boxy, solid, 2-dimensional oversized item like a car coat and it’s so basic and there’s no detail work to speak of. So boring. So cheap.” [lookatme]

HIT | Giorgio Armani Privé

The Hits & Misses of Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week Spring 2024

“This is Haute Couture! There’s an allure and the quality of those fabrics screams at you in a way that quiet luxury couldn’t! Armani put that atelier to work!” [Lola701]

“This is a masterclass on how to be a couturier. The perfect cut and finish, the restrained excess, the contrast between melancholic and lady like, the use of the right fabric and the perfect fit. These are pieces that will be worn for years.” [Urban Stylin]

“I sat and watched the live-stream in absolute awe! Absolutely flawless from start to finish, and another collection in which cements Giorgio Armani a cut above the rest. So many delightful creations here, and so many sublime details and fabrics. The fluid metallic fabric Armani uses is heavenly. Ugh, I could rave about this collection until the cows come home…” [vogue28]

MISS | Stephane Rolland

“Sometimes, I feel like Mr Rolland’s women are just drowning under all that fabric. The volumes are always too much and if it’s not the volumes, it’s the impossible train.” [Lola701]

“Really this is just a series of couture sacks and smocks. He’s never been the most compelling when it comes to construction, but this is on another level.” [Cocteau Stone]

“A parody of a parody.” [dontbeadrag]

MISS | Miss Sohee

“What in cosplay reject hell is this? It’s so juvenile.” [GoldenPetals]

“How can someone so young have such outdated tastes?” [tourbillions]

“Social media haute couture. She designs for a moment – not a general profile or demographic, design values, or specific client. just for a viral moment. people like her use of texture and graphics, but it’s not enough. she’s underdeveloped with no taste.” [TerraVera]

MISS | Christian Dior

“The choice of fabrics make the whole collection look like it has been made with the remnants from a clearance sale of an upholstery company.” [jeanclaude]

“WOW! This is aggressively ugly. Maria Grazia Chiuri’s confidence while being this mediocre is astonishing.” [VogueDisciple93]

“Same sh*t over and over, I’m tired of this woman!” [bennyboy]

MISS | Fendi

The Hits & Misses of Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week Spring 2024
IMAGE | IMAXTREE

“It’s such a coma-inducing show. The collection itself is so bland that there’s literally nothing to talk about.” [perhydrol]

“Why is Jones’ Fendi so American in its sensibility? This could be Isaac Mizrahi couture. It lacks that sense of fun and humor both Karl’s and Sylvia’s collections had. It’s very textbook couture, overly precious and too serious for an Italian brand.” [avonlea002]

“Aseptic and lank. Kim just doesn’t work well at Fendi. There’s no fun and joy in this at all, just boredom. Very inoffensive so it’ll cater itself well to the mindlessness of the ‘fash pack’ and all the ‘journalists’, but where’s the actual soul?” [Cocteau Stone]

HIT | Viktor & Rolf

“F a b u l o u s.” [helmutnotdead]

“They struck gold with this show. Excellent.” [LadyJunon]

“It’s always the ones you expect absolutely nothing from who comes up with the good stuff! This is one of the times where their stunt actually works so well because attached to a narrative, a design and technical challenge!” [Lola701]

MISS | Jean Paul Gaultier

The Hits & Misses of Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week Spring 2024
IMAGE | IMAXTREE

“Extremely cheap and unimaginative.” [lookatme]

“It’s just so frou frou. Half looks like like an audition for Dior, the other half a Gaultier Pinterest board. This just isn’t interesting or challenging. Simone Rocha should’ve looked at his mid-90s and early-00s collections a little more. The whole cone bra and corset sh*t is getting stale fast.” [gallianostan]

“I really don’t understand why Rocha did not send out to the runway a silk draped top with a pair of embroidered jeans and high satin heels. Jean Paul Gaultier is much more than a f*cking corset.” [helmutnotdead]

MISS | Chanel

IMAGE | IMAXTREE

“Such a waste of talented seamstresses.” [couturefan]

“The white tights are a poor choice. They’re so unflattering and even though the proportions of these looks are better than her usual outputs, it’s still so lackluster. Not an ounce of joy or fun to be had, let alone movement, which is the premise of Coco’s design beginning.” [Cocteau Stone]

“Chanel Haute Couture used to be a dream… so sophisticated, elegant and such high level of craftsmanship that you wanted to get a piece of. Now it’s just an extension of RTW with more embellishment and more fabric.” [tourbillions]

HIT | Elie Saab

“I like Elie Saab. He is an institution and I have a real respect for this kind of very client-oriented type of couture. The collection is predictable but also quite beautiful. The quality is screaming through the screen!” [Lola701]

“Really beautiful.” [liberty33r1b]

“Elie Saab has come to be a couture highlight for me, and this collection is no exception. From start to finish, each look just appears so perfectly executed, crafted and designed. The fabrics, the color palette, the confidence of Saab himself – all absolute perfection.” [vogue28]

MISS | Homolog

“So many references from other designers. Why are there so many unknowns showing during Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week?” [tourbillions]

“Homo-log out of this couture week ASAP!” [Kanzai]

“What an odd name for a brand. Very D-list. Like a ‘couture designer’ friend that some reality star/housewife have on retainer thinking they’ve made it are IT. Nothing wrong with that, but why present at couture when you are not that?” [Cocteau Stone]

MISS | Ronald van der Kemp

The Hits & Misses of Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week Spring 2024

“An expensive made-to-measure Parsons graduation show.” [jeanclaude]

“The magic of RVDK unfortunately died when he started to have shows. I remember those magnificent lookbooks, super edited but also very strong! RVDK is a seasoned designer and so, it’s a pity to see the kind of collections we have to attach to his name. Nothing is working here. And neither the casting or the presentation are helping his case!” [Lola701]

“Runway presentations just don’t work for him. A tighter edit or styling with the looks would have helped a lot too. Needs a better balance to create some more tension between them all.” [Cocteau Stone]

MISS | Tony Ward

MISS | Giambattista Valli

The Hits & Misses of Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week Spring 2024

“Very garish. Pink and green DO NOT GO. Especially not on 80s prom dresses.” [Golden Petals]

“As usual, a sh*t load of fabric but nothing to say with it.” [avonlea002]

“I mean, the collection feels like he is making mockery of Haute Couture. The tragedy is that Valli really thinks this is what Haute Couture should look like! Those 80s floral prints are straight from the Golden Girls living room upholstery- and they never should be removed from there!” [jeanclaude]

MISS | Schiaparelli

The Hits & Misses of Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week Spring 2024

“It’s just so synthetic and calculated. There isn’t really that much of a shift happening, and the mood board seems like a very obvious one from start to finish. Feels incredibly conceited.” [Cocteau Stone]

“He had a really strong moment for a year or so, but now it’s getting a little bit tiresome. If he were to expand his color palette, that would make a big difference. He can’t continue to produce only black, white, and gold. The archive are rich in color. He needs to confront whatever fear he has towards color because the house DNA isn’t solely black and white.” [GivenchyHomme]

“It kind of feels like Daniel Roseberry is running out of steam.” [TerraVera]

HIT | Maison Margiela

“Daaaamn. Galliano is truly back in business. It’s DISTINCTLY Galliano, but with that gritty Margiela touch.” [GoldenPetals]

“FINALLY! Drama, theater, excess, darkness, whatever. I don’t care about Margiela, I want to see Galliano like in his glory days. I’m glad to see his confidence is back, and to finally own his aesthetic at full.” [FelipeV]

“I was absolutely moved to tears, we haven’t seen or experienced anything like this in eons. And, God, is fashion hungry for this. This almost feels like a swansong collection, or at least a culmination of the narrative he’s been weaving these last few years. I’m just lost for any intelligent words right now.” [Mr-Dale]

The Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week Spring 2024 season is upon us and as the fashion pack flock (or remain in Paris amid Menswear Paris Fashion Week) to the French capital to bare witness to the collections. In honor of the upcoming collections, we are at theFashionSpot are flashing it back a whole decade to the Spring 2014 season.

To say the world of fashion has changed dramatically within the past 10 years would be an understatement. Still on the schedule back in Spring 214 was the outright splendor and fabulosity of an Atelier Versace presentation. Donatella Versace welcomed guests inside The Ritz hotel and presented a collection which was an ode to Grace Jones. Raf Simons was creative director at Christian Dior, still on his mission to modernize couture, with his collection boasting inspiration of the work of French sculptor Valentine Schlegel. Maria Grazia Chiuri was still at Valentino alongside her co-creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli, where their love of the opera was on full display. Viktor & Rolf cast the Dutch National Ballet as models while Jean Paul Gaultier invited burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese to walk his couture extravaganza. Elsewhere during the season, the titan of Italian fashion that is Giorgio Armani gave us an absolute masterclass in refined elegance, evoking the gypsy spirit of Loulou de la Falaise and couture sneakers were high on Karl Lagerfeld’s agenda at Chanel.

Unfortunately, Eva Green is one of those actresses (just like Zoe Saldaña) who is a rare sight on the cover of Vogue. As a result, there’s always cause for celebration whenever any of the 27 editions of Vogue from across the globe welcome a rare sight as their cover subject. Vogue Greece is in our good graces this month, as editor Thaleia Karafyllidou invites Eva Green onto a quartet of dazzling and high-glam covers (just in time for the festive period), a whole 15 years after her very first for British Vogue‘s January 2008 edition. The mesmerizing French actress dials up the glam via the lens of famed photographer Ellen von Unwerth for Greek Vogue‘s latest, wearing an array of pieces from Giambattista Valli, Louis Vuitton, Blumarine, Rick Owens – finished off with spectacular jewelry from Bulgari, Chopard and Cartier.

Needless to say, members of our forums welcomed Eva Green on the cover of Vogue with open arms – for the most part. “I love her. I wish she had more Vogue covers,” enthused caioherrero.
“The second cover barely look like her, then again I haven’t seen/paid attention to her in a while,” forum member thenewclassic wrote.
“Oh my… the skin retouching,” BlueRuin pointed out.
“Neither of the covers are amazing which is really sad considering it’s Eva Green! In every single one there’s a detail that ruins the cover but I guess the last one is probably the best one,” noted WAVES.
Sharing the same underwhelming sentiments toward the outcome was penny609: “These covers had a lot of high potential but something looks wrong somehow!”
Also not buying it was vogue28, commenting: “Never understood the appeal of Ellen von Unwerth’s work but have always adored Eva Green, so feel somewhat cheated by this. I’m a fan of the first cover and the fourth with the dog but the amount of post-production on the second cover is insulting!”
