The 2024 Gucci Gift advertising campaign is apparently the gift that keeps on giving. Spread across five chapters, chapter one served up Kendall Jenner and gang evoking the spirit of the legendary Savoy hotel in London. Chapter two saw Jenner join Kirsty Hume and daughter Violet, with the casting venturing off on an alpine adventure. The third installment of the Gucci Gift campaign celebrates all-things family for the festive season. Gucci creative director Sabato De Sarno casts Tina Knowles and Solange Knowles as the embodiment of the campaign. Also part of the cast for chapter three are Duyen Nguyen, Lauren Nguyen, Chloe Nguyen, Mariel Hemingway, Dree Hemingway, Langley Fox Hemingway, and Yanii Gough. Each of the three families were captured by De Sarno favorite Anthony Seklaoui for the occasion.

“Wow, that’s bad,” shrieked BlueRuin upon first look.

“WTF is that light placement?” asked a dumbfounded avonlea002.

“This is supposed to make me want to buy these products? Riiiiiiiight,” blueorchid laughed.

Also far from impressed was forum member Frederic01. “This is absolutely terrible and impossibly cringe. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I thought Gucci was supposed to be pursuing ‘brand elevation’ and ‘timeless appeal’? How is this anything here of a elevated or timeless nature?” they questioned.

“If we had razzie awards for fashion, Gucci would take them all at this point,” declared GivenchyAddict.

To say Harper’s Bazaar under the direction of Samira Nasr has become an absolute snoozefest would be an understatement. Here at theFashionSpot, not even covers with Margaret Qualley, Leanne de Haan, Lana Del Rey and Gisele Bündchen have managed to win of us over recent months. Now that Carlos Nazario is style director at large, we’re hopeful cover shoots will begin to brighten up. Next up on Nasr’s cover subject conquest list is Solange Knowles, who becomes Bazaar‘s March 2024 cover star. The American singer-songwriter and actress is styled by Nazario for the occasion, wearing a look from Prada’s Spring 2024 collection as she poses for photographer Larissa Hoffman.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“JESUS… Samira is making history! She is the first and only EIC that all her covers are TERRIBLE. No other has achieved this. Her name will be in the Guinness Book!” laughed DK92.

In complete agreement was vogue28: “Goodness, what a total non-event of a cover for a March issue. Another cover under Nasr’s unfortunate reign that is completely devoid of energy, life, soul, charm…”

“As expected, it’s so incredibly booooooring. The outfit on the cover is overwhelming, it looks terrible. Solange deserved better!” aracic declared.

Lola701 ultimately felt the same way, commenting: “I love Solange! I love her style, I love her music! This cover and the story are the next level of boredom. Lackluster styling and photography!”

“They could’ve done so much better having her,” chimed in Ivancica.

“Samira doesn’t know how to pick a cover to save her life!” marsnoop2 exclaimed.

Cannes International Film Festival

Forget the Oscars and the Met Gala. The Cannes International Film Festival is the epitome of glamour. The mantra “Go big or go home” was practically coined for the annual star-studded gathering. Although the 2020 edition was canceled due to the health crisis, last year it returned on a much smaller scale. (Although Bella Hadid still manged to deliver two amazing looks.) The good news? This week the festival returns, hopefully with a bang. So we decided to reflect back on the greatest looks ever to hit the French Riviera before the 2022 festivities get underway.

We’re talking epic feathered trains, sculpted skirts, decadent embroidery and eye-catching embellished bodices. And let’s not forget all the dazzling jewelry. Fashion institutions Stéphane Rolland, Ralph & Russo, Atelier Versace, Gucci and Jean Paul Gaultier are all well-represented as their pieces are often designed for a grand stage like the Cannes International Film Festival. From A-list actresses to an iconic princess, these looks are emblazoned into our memories as some of the best, not just of Cannes, but of all time.

Ready to take a look back through time? Then scroll down to relive the most breathtaking looks to ever grace the festival’s red carpet.

Since this year’s Met Gala is set for Monday, we can’t help but reflect on the past and all the delicious looks that the gala has produced over the years. From high-wattage couture creations to out-of-the-box risqué looks that may have taken some time to truly appreciate, fashion’s equivalent of the Oscars never disappoints. Think multicolored feathers, body armor-like metallics, borderline obsessive sheer accents and enough embellishments to shake a very stylish stick at. A few well-known fashion mavens scored multiple spots on this list for obvious reasons. We’re sure everyone has their respective favorites, but there’s no denying that these stars made a sartorial impact. Scroll down to relive the Met Gala’s top style moments.

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - MAY 06: Lady Gaga attends The 2019 Met Gala Celebrating Camp: Notes on Fashion at Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 06, 2019 in New York City. (Photo by Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images for The Met Museum/Vogue)

With this year’s Camp: Notes on Fashion theme, we expected stars to bring the crazy drama. And boy, did they deliver on the OTT front. From Lady Gaga going through several wardrobe changes — all on the pink carpet, no less — to Zendaya’s light up Cinderella dress to Katy Perry looking pretty lit, it was go big or go home.

And it wasn’t just the clothes stealing all the thunder. Ciara won for biggest and baddest hair of the night, while Hailey Bieber went with an old-fashioned ‘do and props to Tessa Thompson for working her extra long braid like a whip. Plus, the guys really came to play, even when it came to makeup. (Kudos to Darren Criss for his daring eye makeup.) We must give a special shout-out to Billy Porter, whose Cleopatra-like entrance almost upstaged Gaga’s performance. Almost.

There were definitely some consistent themes at this year’s epic Met Gala. With the party celebrating the Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination exhibit, attendees offered their penance in the form of veils, crosses and headpieces galore. Yellows, reds and golds also proved popular for this secular celebration. As is usually the case, a few stars took things to the extreme. Rihanna transformed herself into a pope, Zendaya channeled Joan of Arc, Katy Perry looked like she was auditioning for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and Madonna reteamed with Jean Paul Gaultier for a more solemn spin. For all the fashion highlights (trust us, there’s a ton), check out the slideshow above.

This hasn’t exactly been Glamour‘s most successful year in terms of producing innovative and compelling covers, having amassed a slew of hits and misses throughout 2017 (more misses than actual hits). As a result, Glamour goes all out with its offering for December, proudly unveiling a selection of covers for the annual ‘Women of the Year’ edition. The list of women closing out 2017 includes Gigi Hadid, Nicole Kidman, Solange, Samantha Bee and organizers of the Women’s March, Muzoon Almellehan, Patty Jenkins and Peggy Whitson.

One cover, in particular, appealed to our forum members most. “We are now living in a topsy-turvy world where a Gigi Hadid cover looks better in many ways than a Solange and Nicole Kidman one. My fan club cards for the latter two should be revoked for saying this,” wrote Benn98 upon checking out the covers.

“My favorite here is Gigi, I like the attitude and the colors. The other covers have a nice color scheme but the images are nah,” added Srdjan.

“Thank God for that! I actually like the shot just because it’s not typical of a major American magazine,” added magsaddict, admiring Gigi’s cover.

Ivano pointed out: “Gigi looks like Michaela Bercu!”

Also quick to express their sentiments was A.D.C: “Gigi came to play… Solange came to slay!”

“I don’t like Solange’s (I didn’t even recognize her) and Nicole’s is boring. I do like Gigi’s! I wish we would get more smiling cover. Her smile looks a bit fake but somehow it still works,” KateTheGreatest commented.

We all knew the second that the “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between” theme was announced for this year’s Met Gala, we were in for some outlandish looks. (After all, if there’s one designer who deserves the OTT treatment, it’s Rei Kawakubo.) And certain attendees didn’t disappoint, delivering truly shocking ensembles. Leave it to Rihanna to give the biggest shout-out to Kawakubo by slipping on an elaborate structured floral piece by Comme des Garçons wrapped up with some extremely strappy red heels. Katy Perry turned heads in her veil-covered fiery custom Maison Margiela Artisanal by John Galliano creation. Lily Aldridge also went for the veiled look, while a few daring souls topped off their ensembles with statement head or neck gear.

Even with all the lavish excess a gala like this demands, there were still some stars who played it safe. Though Elizabeth Banks, Diane Kruger and Lupita Nyong’o all looked lovely, we were really expecting a bigger fashion punch on this red carpet, especially since we were hoping that more stars would dare to rock Comme des Garçons’ wares. Nevertheless, there was a strong showing of grand gowns boasting everything from feathered trains to cascading ruffles. Red ruled the night, whether in full-on fashion or in concentrated pops serving as eye-catching accents. And, of course, what would a Met Gala be without a few see-through numbers?

In case you weren’t able to catch all the red carpet action from this year’s “intimate” affair, check out the slideshow above to see the best looks of the night.

This year, Angels took over Indio. Sure, we often see quite a few Victoria’s Secret models on the grounds at Coachella (Alessandra Ambrosio, we’re looking at you), but this go-round the brand actually set up shop in the desert the first weekend to flaunt its Sexy Little Things line. So, lacy bralettes were pretty commonplace as were crop tops, cutoffs and all manner of floppy hats. Denim on denim was trending in flashback fashion, although we were quite surprised to see 90s fave shortalls making a strong comeback at the festival. Some were worn straight-on, while other attendees opted to go old school and sport one strap loose. Regardless, we’re predicting they’ll turn into a spring/summer staple this season. While the star power definitely dimmed during the festival’s second weekend, we still spotted a few celebs decked out in memorable fare, like straw hats and extremely short shorts. For all the festival fashion from this year’s Coachella (plus a tally of Kylie Jenner’s ever-changing hair color), check out the jam-packed slideshow above.

If you were expecting some crazy getups for this year’s Grammys, you were left sorely disappointed. Sure, Lady Gaga cranked the insanity up just about as high as it would go in a barely-there embellished bolero and short shorts capped off by thigh-high boots, but the majority of attendees kept things relatively low-key. Rihanna rocked an eye-catching orange crop top teamed with a full ballgown black skirt by Armani Privé and Adele stood out in one of Riccardo Tisci’s final Givenchy creations. Showing skin was definitely in with most celebs restraining themselves to extended slits, but a few daring souls flaunted more unconventional peekaboo details. While it was certainly Beyoncé’s night to shine as she performed in grand fashion after announcing to the world she was carrying twins, we were mesmerized by Solange Knowles’ golden Gucci moment (and Blue Ivy’s hot pink suit). Check out the slideshow above for all the fashion highlights from this year’s Grammys.
