Katie Grand and Bryan Grey Yambao at Perfect Magazine sure do know how to generate some buzz. The twosome kick-started 2024 by bringing Bella Hadid out of retirement. Supermodels Linda Evagelista, Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell, and Kate Moss were ushered in as cover stars for Issue 6. Issue 6.5 went to Rihanna (as you’ve never seen her before). Issue 7 saw the Barbadian songstress swiftly welcomed back as cover star. The next global sensation to take to the cover of Perfect Magazine (this time for Issue 8) is Selena Gomez. The American singer, actress, and beauty mogul poses for photographer Morgan Maher on location in New York. Katie Grand styled Gomez over six collectible covers. Grand selected looks from DKNY, Saint Laurent, Simone Rocha, Valentino, Christopher Kane for Self-Portrait, and Self-Portrait for the occasion.

“Selena Gomez is always a NO for me,” stated DK92 upon digesting the covers.

“Always for me too,” replied vogue28. “On the magazine cover front, Selena via the lens of Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott for American Vogue [April 2017] remains the one to beat. I like the first cover shot. Perhaps I could have done without the juvenile circular art direction.”

Kaia Gerber’s Valentino tulle dress with a cape brought a playful, school-girl fashion moment to The Hollywood Reporter’s 2024 “Next Gen” event. Gerber’s ensemble was the latest creation of new creative director Alessandro Michele’s debut collection for the fashion house. On Wednesday, she sported the unique set, mixing old money style with casual wear, to THR and Instagram’s Next Gen 2024 party in Los Angeles and looked glamorous doing so.

In another iconic style, Kaia Gerber paired up a Valentino golden cape and tulle dress with casual knee-high socks for THR’s 2024 Next Gen party. She wore the set from Alessandro Michele’s Resort 2025 collection titled Avant les Débuts that only debuted this fall in one of the creative director’s first for the fashion house.

Michele’s entire collection comprised a total of 189 looks including Gerber’s tulle dress, reported Vogue. The heavily embellished two-piece set comprised a mini dress and the cape with a white-pearl hem at the bottom and complex beadwork in floral patterns.

The outlet stated how the fashion model prefers styling her looks these days and paired her latest ensemble with knee-high pointelle socks. In addition, Valentino posted about Gerber’s look in a since-deleted Instagram story, sharing more details about the outfit.

The fashion house noted that her lavender-colored footwear was the Garavani Bowow pumps from Michele’s debut collection. Gerber then went with neutral makeup tones, styling her brunette locks in soft curls, defining her eyebrows, and adding rosy blush and matching, glossy lip shade to complete the look.

Kaia Gerber’s styling of the gold Valentino cape and tulle dress for THR’s 2024 Next Gen easily transported the looks into something from the 1920s. The pearl detailing and the school-girl fashion further contributed to that fact. The cape, however, is proving to be a trend-setting clothing accessory. Very recently, Elle Fanning sported a somewhat similar cape design with her Valentino gown at the 2024 Governors Awards.

This occasion also marked the continuance of Gerber’s latest elegant fashion moments. She recently donned a stunning, pistachio-colored Gucci gown at the 2024 LACMA Art + Film Gala and channeled Audrey Hepburn in an ornate, vintage Alexander McQueen Givenchy gown.

Samira Nasr’s Harper’s Bazaar isn’t exactly an absolute must-have purchase for us when visiting our local newsstand. After all, the American fashion title has become extremely hit and miss. Covers throughout 2024 featuring the likes of Emma Corrin, Winona Ryder, Jennie, and Kendrick Lamar have failed to hit the spot. Yet on the opposite end of the scale, Regina King and a twosome of covers with Anok Yai and Christy Turlington have impressed us to no end. Nasr opts to close out the year by welcoming Miley Cyrus onto the cover of Harper’s Bazaar for December 2024/January 2025. The American singer-songwriter, actress, and current face of Dolce & Gabbana poses for Ethan James Green. Styled by Carlos Nazario, Cyrus is splashed across a duo of covers in looks from the Christian Dior and Valentino.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“LOVE THE 2ND COVER!” exclaimed GERGIN upon checking out the two covers.

“The second cover was more than enough. The first one is tragic,” chimed in GivenchyAddict.

“Those covers of Harper’s Bazaar with Anok Yai and Christy Turlington by Ethan James Green were some of my most favorite covers of the year. These, with Miley Cyrus, pale in comparison IMO. The closeup portrait cover is most definitely the standout of the two. The colors are gorgeous. The first cover feels a little… flat,” voiced vogue28.

MModa commented: “Love the first cover only. The color scheme is just perfect for December. It is fashion and the image pulls me in. The second cover does not appeal to me at all!”

“Beautiful! Always nice to see Miley Cyrus looking gorgeous!” added guimon.

At the 2024 Governors Awards, Elle Fanning went full sheer in a see-through Valentino gown with jewels, crystal embellishments, and a fur cape. For the annual event that the Academy calls a “kickoff” to the Oscars season, Fanning channeled an ice queen persona in the floor-length mint green dress just in time for the holiday season. She paired the look with her classic blonde hair that seemingly suited the occasion and accessorized with heavy rings. The 15th Governors Award happened on November 17 at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Ovation Hollywood in Los Angeles.

Elle Fanning’s see-through Valentino gown for the 2024 Governors Awards was a sensational contribution to the ongoing sheer fashion trend. Like many actors, she dived into the nearly nude style in a glamorous gown from the luxury fashion house’s Spring/Summer 2025 Ready-to-Wear collection. The plunging dress made its debut on the runway before Fanning rocked it at the red carpet event. She appeared straight out of a family tale in the heavily embellished, royal-looking ensemble that comprised a more dramatic addition — a cape.

The actor’s gown had rows of crystals stemming out of the torso of the outfit. The full-sleeved dress had fur linings on the wristband part and the bottom as it almost touched the floor. In addition, Fanning completed the ensemble by adding the adorned cape, which included a fur lining and was tied in the front.

Cosmopolitan reported that she also accessorized the look with two diamond rings and Cartier’s unique Mandragore 79.38 carats necklace. The 26-year-old kept her makeup modest to accentuate the allure of her outfit with only lush lips and her side-parted shoulder-length blonde hair.

Celebrity stylist Samantha McMillen masterminded Elle Fanning’s look and later shared photos of the actor’s look on her Instagram. In the caption, McMillen provided details regarding Fanning’s attire and also credited stylists who helped her create the exquisite appearance including hair and makeup.

Alessandro Michele means business as Valentino creative director. We got our unexpected first glimpse at the Italian designer’s vision for the iconic Italian fashion house in June, with the surprise unveiling of the Resort 2025 collection. Last month, during the Spring 2025 season of Paris Fashion Week, Michele staged his debut runway showcase as creative director and his first Valentino campaign imagery is here – for Resort 2025. Michele enlisted his long-time collaborator at Gucci to lens the campaign, with Glen Luchford commissioned to capture Valentino’s latest. Models Awèng Malou, Isadora Ribeiro, Sophie Dominique Gonzalez, Sung Young Lee, Vera Lemelehes, Harry Browse, and Savva Podolski roam the majestic Mignanelli Palace (the birthplace and headquarters of Valentino) throughout the rich and decadent series of campaign images.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“The video is GORGEOUS. It’s so Roma, opulent, rich, decadent, love love love! Glen Luchford and Alessandro Michele are a perfect duo. They never fail!” exclaimed carla56.

“Love this,” Gonzalo enthused.

Yet not everyone was so impressed. “Ugh, this looks like what moth balls smell like. Stuffy, dated, and been done to death over and over 700 times before,” complained forum member 90sFan.

“Loathed the vast majority of Alessandro Michele’s Gucci campaigns and judging by the look of this, it’ll be the same with his Valentino offerings. This whole maximalist concept just feels so dated in 2024, despite everything feeling very rich and regal here. Not for me,” voiced vogue28.

Kite commented: ” I will just unfortunately never be able to get on board with this aesthetic. It also just looks dated now, not old fashioned in terms of clothes, just a dated way of dressing!”

That’s a complete wrap on Paris Fashion Week Spring 2025, with Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant of Coperni taking the fashion pack to Disneyland Paris to “magically” round out the fashion festivities. Since September 23, a total of 66 physical runway shows and 40 presentations have taken place within the City of the Light over the past week, making the Paris Fashion Week Spring 2025 season a one for the books.

Report: Paris Fashion Week Spring 2025

Mid-afternoon on Friday September 27, with a wildly star-studded cast including Gigi Hadid, Hedi Klum, Marcia Cross and Anok Yai (as the bride), Guram Gvasalia staged his latest Vetements collection, inspired by the Paris underground. Against a romantic and candle-lit backdrop of the Château de Bagatelle, Victoria Beckham presented her Paris Fashion Week Spring 2025 offering of sculptural breast plates, mixed print dresses, and cut-out tailoring.

Andreas Kronthaler brought punk to Paris for his Vivienne Westwood showcase while Nadège Vanhee-Cybulsk served up chocolate leathers that looked like butter at Hermès (and not even a PETA protester could distract from superb craftsmanship). Come nightfall on Saturday September 28, it was time to bare witness to the sophomore collection of Seán McGirr as McQueen creative director. Inside Paris’ École des Beaux-Arts, the Irish designer paid homage to the Alexander McQueen Fall 1994 collection, razor-sharp tailored suiting and Celtic influences.

Come Sunday, all eyes were on Alessandro Michele as he staged his debut runway show as Valentino creative director. Models paraded Michele’s designs of sumptuous fabrics, cascading ruffles, sequins, and bow detailing around a draped set and walked on a floor of broken mirrors. Closing out the weekend, Isabel Marant confirmed that the western trend is set to regain its momentum for Spring 2025, with a collection boasting fringe jackets, studded bags, and suede pieces.

Monday commenced with an open-air show from Stella McCartney at Paris Fashion Week. Oversized bags, suits, round form plush jackets in pastel colors, and splashes of red were consistent throughout McCartney’s lineup. Gabriela Hearst ditched New York for Paris this season, showcasing her creations on the Left Bank. Eclectic knits, sheer sheaths, and crinkled gold separates took the runway, next to sophisticated tailoring and some Western influence. To a remix of Gimmie More by Britney Spears, models at Balenciaga walked out onto an elevated catwalk, inspired by a dining table. Balenciaga creative director Demna, experimented with hoodies and denim, transforming jeans into gaiters and showing oversized sweatshirts with slogans that read “Fashion Designer”.

On the final day of Paris Fashion Week, Chanel (still without a creative director) ventured back to the Grand Palais. The Chanel Fashion Creation Studio team, gave us charming 1920s-style collars and classic tweeds that honored the brand’s rich heritage, while ostrich feather trim and delicate sheer looks floated past guests towards the end of the show. The finale was topped off with a live performance from Riley Keough, who gave attendees a rendition of Prince’s When Doves Cry, sat perched on a swing inside a vast white birdcage. At Miu Miu, Miuccia Prada doubled down on the no-pants look for another season. Nicolas Ghesquière honored the rich Louis Vuitton heritage with a runway inspired by the French fashion house’s signature trunks. Ghesquière’s lineup featured open peplum shirts, flowing silk dresses, oversized shoulder pads, and patterns by artist Laurent Grasso.

“Go off and show off, Nicolas! Let the girls know you can challenge taste without it being ugly. It looked expensive, it didn’t look tortured. Bravo!” [reese06]

“I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVED IT. The soundtrack, the trunks as a runway. I loved the footwear, the bags, and the accessories. Ghesquiere is hitting his stride, I am so excited. I loved this collection, and I usually feel a way about what he’s been doing but I love, love, loved all of it.” [jeremydante]

“Great and surprising collection from Nicolas! Despite the layering in the styling, the amount of flow made it so enjoyable. Seeing those fabrics floating as the girls walked was fabulous!” [Lola701]

“The set alone is a perfect display of the brand without a creative director: EMPTY! At this point, just give the CD position to anyone with a name because this cannot work for another season. Will it sell? Of course, it will, but it’s not sustainable.” [Salvatore]

“Styling is 50% of the brand now, and I just find it stupid. Just stupid.” [yslforever]

“1000x better than Seán McGirr’s debut.” [justpassingthrough]

“This is light years away from that heinous debut. It’s unexpectedly good. It’s not on Lee’s (or even Burton’s) level, but it’s was a good collection and a good show. He should’ve dumped the heavy platforms in favour of sleek stilettos and “floating” heels, but one thing at a time.” [LadyJunon]

“For me this show was a massive improvement from his debut, massive. We can all agree that we will never get McQueen in the dark version of yore, that’s a thing of the past. But I thought that McGirr this time got his s**t together and delivered a much more focused and commercially appealing collection.” [bc collector]

“It feels very déjà-vu and I blame the excessive styling. I believe without the amount of lace gloves, piercings, and better casting, it would’ve felt less Michele and more Garavani.” [thiago]

“Michele almost fooled me with that first look. The most anticipated show of the season and the most flop one. He confirmed he is a one-trick pony and has the most one-dimensional vision ever.” [FashionPower]

“I can’t imagine the Paris fashion week without Yohji and the lovely Hôtel De Ville. Hands down one of the best collections this season!” [Kanzai]

“I like this. So sleek and easy on the eyes. There’s just something that seems so pure about this.” [Cocteau Stone]

“It was cleaner, more commercial. It lacked that defiant punk energy that Vivienne did so well.
Even the runway soundtrack was odd, it wasn’t Vivienne Westwood at all.” [jeremydante]

“This is absolutely sufficient for Hermès. It’s the quiet conservative high-quality luxury that its clientele is looking for. Hermès is the LAST fashion house that needs to be ‘fashion-forward’. The brand is already so mature and so well SET, it already has a reliable surefire formula – both commercially and creatively.” [GoldenPetals]

MISS | Vetements

“Dreadful.” [GoldenPetals]

“I couldn’t care less about the clothes. Pure trash.” [thiago]

MISS | Victoria Beckham

“She’s desperately trying to be someone she clearly isn’t.” [helmutnotdead]

“Why is Victoria Beckham always trying so hard to be someone she isn’t? She should do a sexier, more glamorous take on minimalism and stop with the artsy nonsense.” [avonlea002]

“She could donate the money to the poor, instead of doing poor fashion every season.” [90sfan]

HIT | Junya Watanabe

“I love this! Saw the first look and knew this was going to be a hit. Junya rarely disappoints.” [Machinegumm]

“The amount of ideas here is on a whole other level, very impressive.” [tatouejeremie]

“Absolute gold! zeroWhat a relief after the barrage-effortfort collections from all the other brands!” [amak]

MISS | Ann Demeulemeester

“Another brand that makes no sense without its founder.” [avonlea002]

“Ann D mixed with ‘dumpster diving homeless people’. Stefano Gallici better correct course for next season, because this is NOT the direction this brand should go.” [Machinegumm]

“Ann was never ratty. Bohemian, yes, in the likes of Baudelaire perhaps but not ratty.” [Not Plain Jane]

HIT | Ludovic de Saint Sernin

“His work is starting to grow on me. It’s well constructed, which isn’t something most of his peers can say.” [LadyJunon]

“Not even going to lie and probably will be put into tFS timeout, but … I am into it!” [Savatore]

“I think this is beautiful…” [thiago]

MISS | Coperni

If you thought the first portion of Paris Fashion Week was something to behold for the Spring 2025 season, the second half of the 9-day event granted us just as many fantastical fashion moments. McQueen’s Seán McGirr staged his sophomore collection as creative director, presenting razor-sharp tailored suiting and references to the Alexander McQueen Fall 1994 collection. Alessandro Michele made his long-awaited debut as Valentino creative director, staging his first runway at the helm of the luxury Italian fashion house. Sumptuous fabrics, cascading ruffles, sequins, and bow detailing were on full display, as models walked across a runway of broken glass. Chanel staged its first prêt-à-porter show without an official creative director while Nicolas Ghesquière‘s Louis Vuitton showcase paid homage to the rich heritage of the French fashion house.

See, we told you the second half of PFW would save the best moments for last. Scroll further for part two of theFashionSpot’s highlights from Paris Fashion Week Spring 2025:

Forum Members Review Valentino Spring 2025, Alessandro Michele's First as Creative Director
IMAGES | SPOTLIGHT/LAUNCHMETRICS

Paris Fashion Week, day seven, and all eyes were on Alessandro Michele earlier today, as the designer staged his debut runway show as Valentino creative director. Following the surprise release of the Valentino Resort 2025 lookbook, Michele’s signature maximalism is well and truly back. Harry Styles, Jared Leto, Salma Hayek, Carla Bruni, and Karen Elson were just a few splashed across the front row for Michele’s first Valentino runway presentation. The Italian designer revisited treasures within the Valentino archives, in an attempt to highlight a Roman sense of opulence for the collection titled ‘Pavillon des Folies’. Sumptuous fabrics, cascading ruffles, sequins, and bow detailing were on full display, as models walked across a runway of broken glass.

Valentino Spring 2025 Collection Review

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“Alessandro Michele doing Alessandro Michele. It’s nice but for Valentino? I don’t know. Even if it makes sense with what Valentino Garavani did in the 60s and 70s. It feels very Michele.” [imjustken]

“Girl.. bye. Valenticci.” [tourbillions]

“No evolution. Gucci 2.0.” [Grets]

“INCREDIBLE SHOW, love it! It was like I was not watching a fashion show, but a decadent movie, with no models but characters. Loved the music, the set, and the round camera for the shoes. So cinematic!” [carla56]

“Best show of the season, IDGAF. The styling is definitely Michele, but the darker color palette and lack of pop and hip-hop elements created a nice separation between this and Gucci.” [LadyJunon]

It has become somewhat of a tradition for us here at theFashionSpot to throw it back a whole decade, on the eve of each fashion week. You’ve encountered our New York, London and Milan installments and now it’s time to head back to the Spring 2015 season of Paris Fashion Week.

Sarah Burton was the creative force behind Alexander McQueen in the September of 2014, offering up a collection based on her very own treasured collection of antique kimonos and intricate fabric swatches. Cropped jackets and asymmetrical mini skirts had a rock ‘n’ roll sensibility at Anthony Vaccarello’s showcase and a sporty vibe oozed from Alexander Wang’s monochromatic Balenciaga collection. Riccardo Tisci sent out a gang of his model muses decked out into corsets, leather pants and thigh-high boots at Givenchy. Simon Porte Jacquemus transformed his runway into a beach scene, complete with parasols, deck chairs and the sound of waves crashing for his Spring 2015 nautical-inspired collection. Hedi Slimane continued to display his love for all-things glam rock at Saint Laurent while the late Karl Lagerfeld staged a protest at the Chanel show, complete with models (like Cara Delevingne and Gisele Bundchen) shouting through megaphones.

A good ol’ flashback has become somewhat of a tradition here at theFashionSpot. Ahead of the imminent fashion festivity that is the Fall 2024 season of Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week, we’re throwing back to the Fall 2014 season.

Raf Simons was the creative force behind Christian Dior, who ultimately split up his couture collection into eight sections and set out to give past concepts conjured up by Monsieur Christian Dior himself a modern twist. The late Karl Lagerfeld ingeniously incorporated cement and neoprene into the finale bridal look at Chanel, worn by a pregnant Ashleigh Good. The Alexandre Vauthier Fall 2014 couture show was full of slit dresses and exposed legs while at Viktor & Rolf, low-pile carpet was masterfully transformed into minidresses, cocooning capes and off-the-shoulder coats. Striking silhouettes of black worn with impossibly-high stilettos opened up Jean Paul Gaultier, with the famed French fashion designer (still the sole creative force behind his own eponymous house) ultimately inspired by all-things Vampires. Donatella Versace dialed up the gothic glam with her dark, glamorous and über-sexy Atelier Versace collection, debuting an array sequinned skin-tight dresses for the ultimate Versace vixen.
